COVID-19
With the current COVID-19 pandemic, Safeway Hospice Corp protocols have evolved as we strive to keep our patients, families, and staff safe while continuing to deliver the critical hospice care services our patients need.
How will Safeway Hospice Corp staff visit patients safely during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Our nurses are regularly tested, and we test our patients if they display symptoms of a COVID infection.
Our staff will continue to adhere to established screening protocols to reduce the risk of infection spread through each patient encounter. As always, care team members follow all universal safety precautions and incorporate U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and state/local health department guidance regarding personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols. We also follow protocols and mandates from the facilities we serve, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, care homes for the elderly, etc.
Appropriate PPE will vary with each individual situation and may include gloves, masks, shields, and/or gowns. The number of encounters between the patient, their family members, and our staff will also vary depending on each individual situation.
These protocols will continue to evolve as we strive to keep our patients, families, and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
